Induction?

Hi ladies. I was diagnosed last week with GD. I have been doing research on it and have seen a few articles saying that if baby isn’t here by your due day, they induce you. I just wanted to see if anyone else has been told this/had it done. Thank you!

It's considered best practice to deliver at 39 weeks for mothers with GD. But each pregnancy and mother are different, and each doctor will have their own level of risk they are willing to take.

My doc induces at 38 weeks for GD...she actually won't let me go longer due to my already small frame...

It really depends on a bunch of different factors, including if you are diet controlled or medicated, baby size, how your placenta and fluid is holding up, and your provider. In my first pregnancy, I was diet controlled and had no other complications and they let me go to 41 weeks before they induced me.

My doctor is inducing me at 39 weeks! I am 36 weeks and he is weighing at 7lbs and 5oz so she doesn’t want him to get really big or have issues with sugars when he’s born.

Hi! Had GD too. I was induced at 39th week. It depends on provider and how your baby is, how you are managing it diet or medication. Evidence and research recommends induction only after 39th week not earlier.
In my case baby was falling smaller for sometime at third trimester IUGR and with GD - there were two confounding factors and my doctor said it is better to have her outside than keep inside as after 39th she is full term and capable to function well outside. If it is only GD and sugar levels are well controlled they let you pass due date a couple days but not more than a week I believe as the placenta deteriorates after 40th week it is risky for baby to be inside. 
Plus it gets really hard to maintain the sugar levels after 34thish week with diet- it is a progressive condition. I was diet controlled and no matter I eat or not my fasting values were not perfect and stressed me a lot...
Overall induction was successful and I delivered her vaginally. Hope everything will go well with you and the baby. All the best.

Thanks ladies. They measured my baby 3 weeks ahead at my last appointment, so they bumped up my growth scan! They also put me on insulin because my fasting glucose wouldn’t go down in the AM, even after dieting. So we will see what they say next week at the scan!
