Boyfriend help

K so my boyfriend was talking to me about messaging a girl and today I asked him why he was cause I felt abit insecure cause she is pretty, he knows about my past and how my x would talk to other girls and make me insecure, well he got a bit annoyed and which all I wanted was to be reassured,

I just wanted to know if I had the right to ask that question.
