When to transition from carry cot to the chair bit?

My boy is 14 weeks, currently in the carrycot but He's getting quite long now though.
How soon can we use the sit up chair instead? Is there usually an age / weight minimum that I need to check with the manufacturer? Or is it things like being able to sit up unaided?

Usually when they can sit up unaided (five/six months I’d say)

My baby is 15 weeks but she’s always had great head control. The doctor gave us the go ahead to move her from the bassinet to the pram last week, she said as long as she was holding her head up well then she would be grand. She’s not sitting up unaided yet.

If you look on the stroller itself it says 6 months.... I must admit I'm sure I done it well before that (4 months) as he was out growing the carrycot as he was so tall. He was absolutely fine as you can tip it back quite flat. I've the uppababy vista too.

I put my daughter In the sit up bit from 4 months she couldn’t 100% sit by herself but it could be angled so she wasn’t upright but could see more. By 5 months she could 100% sit unaided all the time

I transitioned my son when he could sit up unaided otherwise it’s not good for their back. I dont recommend doing it before the child can sit by theirselves

Find out from the pram manufacturer (look at the instructions if you have them) :) x

I never had the lie flat bassinet bit on my daughters pram I used to use the carseat on it or if she was in the chair bit I would lie it back a bit so she wasn't sitting up fully. I have a different pram now for baby number two but if you just lie the seat back should be ok

I had the uppa baby vista with my first and she was really long, so we moved her to the seat about 4 months just really reclined and parent facing. She was fine as she was really squashed in the cot.

Most of the seat units are for use from 6months. 
Some can be used parent facing. 
If baby can hold his head perfectly then maybe once he’s sitting unaided (if before 6months) have him in it parent facing if possible :) xxxx

Thanks everyone! I will wait until boy can fully sit up, or is literally bursting out the carrycot lol. Got about 6cm left before he is squished!
