Bacterial vaginosis during first trimester

My doctor won’t treat my BV since I’m still in my first trimester. The symptoms have subsided some but it isn’t going fully away on it’s own. My doctor said they will give me something at my 12 week visit. All I see online is that if you DONT treat it will cause a miscarriage. It you DO treat it will cause birth defects. Did anyone else have to wait till 12 weeks??? I’m 8 now!! This is torture! The ideas of miscarriages from anything and everything drive me crazy!
