Baby Sleep Position Help?

Question

My little girl is 5 days old and I can not get her to sleep on her back. 
I will put her in her bassinet, in the middle, on her back, swaddled. By the time she wakes up, she’s on her side and sometimes has even wiggled her way to the edge of her bassinet. Half the time, the swaddle does nothing as she has her arms out and free. 
Is this normal? Safe? Any tips for getting her to sleep on her back?

My first daughter always slept on her side with her face pressed against the side of the bassinet. I tried placing her on the other side on her back and she would scoot back over to the side to press her face right into it. After a while I realized she was going to keep doing that and had to give up trying to make her stop. She’s 19 months now and still sleeps with her face pressed into her crib or the mattress 🤷🏼‍♀️

Mine does this as well. We bought the halo sleep sack things. It works better than swaddling with a blanket. I suck at swaddling

I would say it's normal, mine does this as well. As long as shes not rolling over or having the side pressed against her face I wouldn't worry about it. Not sure how your bassinet is, but mine has a mesh side so she can still breathe through it

I had this same problem with my newborn. I tried so many things. I was swaddling her with a Muslim swaddle and she was breaking out of it and then crying and wouldn’t sleep. So I bought a Halo Velcro sleep sack swaddle and that worked for one night and she managed to start to break out of that and roll as well. 
I decided to swaddle her with her arms out because she hates not being able to have them by her face. She still was rolling though so we eventually bought a new bassinet that she can’t roll in and it has worked a lot better!

This is what we got. I buckle her in and wrap the swaddle around her legs and she’s content! We’ll transition her back to her other bassinet when she stops rolling to her side while being so little.

I’ve stopped swaddling arms in. She seems to rock and roll around less with her arms less

If my sons arms are swaddled he will wake up and wiggle around until his arms are out. So we swaddle with his arms out and he doesnt wiggle or scooch around at all
