Do you get bothered by insults from strangers on the Internet?

Question

Say you get in a debate with someone you’ve never met, and they start insulting you. Does it affect you? Or could you care less because they’re Someone you’ve never met or going to meet.

Nah. I don't really take stranger's opinions seriously enough to be offended by them. Someone can only offend you if you care what they think.. and I really, truly only care about what, maybe, a dozen or so people in the world think.. so.. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I said yes because it really depends on what they say, if it’s a sore spot I do get defensive and it hurts but then I realize I don’t know this person, they don’t know me & remember to not waste the energy on someone who I will probably never see or speak to again🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s annoying and I may replay it a couple of times in my head, but I usually forget about it by the end of the week. I also know not to jump in on any post that requires debate bc it’s not worth my energy or time.

Only time it affected me was when a woman here told me it was my fault that my father sexually abused me when I was around 13 years old. She said I should have known better because abuse can almost always be avoided by the woman if she "pays attention".
Other than that, no. Actually when someone starts name calling, it gets really entertaining for met.😂

Even at work I don’t get upset when someone insults me. Not my problem they are miserable and have nothing better to do.

Why should someone's inability to have a discussion without name calling affect me? All it does is show me their character. If you aren't a part of my family or friends I could care less what your opinion is about me. You're a stranger behind a screen using a keyboard as your weapon. Half these people wouldn't say the things they do if they were face to face with you.

Usually I just laugh because I think it's hilarious that they think that by cursing and using insults they think they are "winning", upsetting me, or getting under my skin. I don't take things personal because they don't know me or my life. I always try to be kind but firm as a lot of conversations can get out of hand very quickly. I will stick up for what I believe is right but I will never stoop to their level and curse or be rude. So far I have yet to lose my temper or be bothered by someone's craziness. Some times when conversations get out of hand it actually is pretty funny but I don't usually comment, it's entertaining though!

I’m somewhere in between. It hurts me for a moment, because I am human. But then I remind myself that some people are just rude, and get really brave behind a computer screen (or phone), and I shouldn’t take what they say to heart because they’re just saying it for a reaction. Sometimes it’s hard, especially if it’s someone you know or respect, but strangers are pretty easy to ignore.

I think they are embarrassing themselves by causing drama and not being able to communicate their frustration without cussing someone out or insulting someone. 
The worst is when they don’t have anymore come backs to throw out at people so they start attacking people’s grammar 🤣

Growing up with an older brother and sister I learned early not to give a crap when people insult me. I just give them a big fat smile and a sincere thank you for the compliment and it throws them off and they dont know what to do afterwards. 🤗
