TTC W/MALE INFERTILITY

April

My husband and I have been married for 9.5 years now. In these 9.5 years we haven’t been blessed with a child.

In January my husband had his first Semen Analysis test done, it came back 0 sperm 0 mobility. Last month he got a second Semen Analysis test done, also 0 sperm 0 mobility.

This morning he met with a local urologist to see why. The urologist believes that my husband had HydroCele. “HydroCele is a collection of fluid in the scrotum. Most develop for no apparent reason, are harmless and can be left alone. If needed, a small operation can usually cure the problem. In a small number of cases, a hydrocele is due to an underlying problem with a testicle (testis).”

The urologist scheduled some lab work done to check my husbands testosterone, LH levels etc. Once he gets the test results, he’s going to call my husband and see what steps we have to take.

We have gone online and found that if my husband indeed has HydroCele there are three options.

1.) Surgery, but I read that some men experienced negative results.

2.) Drainage, where they stick a needle in the testicle and drain the excess liquid, which has to be done every few months.

3.) Sclerotherapy is the injection of a solution to stop the hydrocele recurring after having it drained. This is not commonly undertaken but may be offered to some people who are not suitable to have an operation.
