What would you do?

My boyfriend (who is 20 years old) is growing out his hair. It’s past his shoulders. He’s literally obsessed with it and loves it long, he says it makes him feel more confident. He’s always loved the 70s and he wants his hair to look like that. I personally think it looks good on him (although it is kind of frizzy), but my parents are always making comments to me that it looks ridiculous and that he won’t be able to find a good job and sometimes people mistake him for a woman in public. It’s a little embarrassing. I don’t know how to break it to him or if I should let him do what he wants. What would you do?

It’s his hair, him having long hair isn’t going to alter his work ethic, and your parents sound like some judgmental messes.

How would you feel if be wanted you to grow your hair down to your butt so that his parents were happy and you weren't mistaken for a boy and that he was embarrassed of you having hair any shorter than that?

my fiancé’s hair is long and i love it 😍 his mum always tells him to cut it but he doesn’t want to (and i don’t want him to either lol) he has a whole ass career though so your parents are dead wrong. most places don’t mind as long as it’s nicely kept

My boyfriend and I have both gotten plenty of comments on our hair. But at the end up of the day we’re both still successful, hard-working, and we’re both pursuing careers in the STEM field. 
You just gotta learn to not give a hoot what other people have to say. If long hair makes him feel happy and confident, why push him to change it? Everyone should do what makes them happy, especially when it comes to their appearance.
