My doc gave me letrozole to bring on ovulation all he told me/ is doing to have sex on every other day on these days and if my cycle is longer than 35 days call or if my bbt temp reaches 98 past CD 12 to call him. Does that sound like routine ?

It seems from what I read about other peoples experience. They get like a full check up ultrasounds to check follicles, blood work, injections?

I was monitored on all my letrozole rounds. I took 5mg on days 3-7. I took prenatals, baby aspirin and used opks. On CD14-16 i would go in for an ultrasound to check my follicles growth. If a follicle was over 18mm i would get the hcg injection. I would then start progesterone the day after ovulation until period day. Im currently about 9 weeks pregnant with my rainbow 🌈❤️ best luck to you! Oh and we baby dance the whole week of when i was supposed to ovulate. Lol and used preseed. Just some tips ☺️

My OB prescribed it as “take this as prescribed, use OPK’s, bloodwork 7 days after a positive OPK and then if you don’t have a period or positive HPT after your longest cycle in the past year than we will induce a period.” 
My RE prescribed it as “you will take X dose 72 hours after starting full flow not just spotting. Take it at the same exact time each day for 5 days. I want to see you back for a follicle scan at cd 12 unless you get a flashing smiley face on the recommended digital OPKs before that day. After your follicle scan on cd12 we will make the rest of the plan” on cd12 I had 2 follicles very close to being ready so then the plan became “I will prescribe you ovidrel (the trigger shot) and you will trigger between 7-10pm on cd14 and then you will have a choice on times intercourses or IUI” we rooted for IUI that round so then she told me to trigger at 8:15 and be back the next day at 2:15pm for an IUI. 
As you can see there’s a large difference in how an OB and an RE approach the prescription. Most OB’s don’t have the authority to prescribe a trigger shot and they also don’t have the ability to do fertility treatment with ultrasounds because that’s not their area and it takes away from the patients that are medically staying within their scope of practice. It’s not that your doctor doesn’t want to help you, it’s just that they can’t at this time with their resources.

I was wondering this myself. My OB only prescribed meds to bring on a period and Letrozole. I’ve been going to get bloodwork on day 21 and that’s all we’ve done. Yesterday was the start of my fourth cycle on Letrozole (second cycle on the 5mg after two cycles of 2.5mg). I did ovulate last month. My doctor had mentioned months ago we would do tests to check my tubes, etc. and send my husband for a semen analysis then possibly going to a RE. I finally brought it up yesterday to the nurse that we haven’t done those tests. They finally decided to schedule them. I think every doctor is different and as said above that OBs just don’t have the ability to do much.

I’ve had ultrasound on day 14. Then again on day 21. I asked to do it without the trigger. So no injections for me.

My dr told me to just let her know if I get a positive OPK or not. She did not talk anything about all the other stuff you mentioned. I have wondered about that as well though. Plan to ask her on my next round. This was just my first time one letrozole.
