Hi there! I got a Skyla (3 year) IUD inserted March 2017. After 6 months, my face broke out pretty badly (I never had acne throughout my teenage years) and it took about a full year to settle down - I still have at least 4 pimples at all times compared to the zero I used to have!

While my face was mad, my body seemed to love the IUD! My terrible cramps and heavy periods were no longer an issue. I’d get my period every 2 or 3 months for a few days and that was it! But as of the last two months, my bad cramps are back and I’ve been spotting/having a period on and off for the last 3 weeks. I’m pretty sure the hormones are just used up at this point.

I have an appointment tomorrow to get it removed and replaced so I’m going to ask my doctor about this as well but wanted to see if anyone else had any ideas I should consider before then.

I’m kind of hoping that they can leave my old iud in (it being there still acts as birth control- so I’ve read) and then put me back on the birth control pill (my face was clear when I was on the pill).

Thoughts? Opinions? Anything?
