So I’m very unhappy with my OB I looked into switching to a midwife and had an apt set up but I called just to make sure of costs and insurance. Turns out the midwife practice wanted $500 upfront non refundable and if I delivered at a hospital another $500 upfront out of pocket or if I delivered at a birth center it would be $1000 again non refundable. We have tricare, midwives are out of network for us which means we would have to pay 20%. My husband is hell bent on me having an in network provider (only low rated OB’s in my area) so that he won’t have to pay anything. I feel very frustrated as I’m having a hard time finding a doctor I feel comfortable with who doesn’t have awful ratings. I feel like my husband doesn’t understand the difference here and doesn’t care about the birth plan I want. I feel every woman should have the right to birth how they want!! I’m at a loss and idk what to do at this point I’d rather just have an at home unassisted birth with no BS! I’m just aggravated. So should I be pissed off at my hubs or just go along with his financial agenda?!
