Trusting my IUD?

Question

Any tips on how to just trust your hormonal IUD? My partner and I are both clean of STD’s so we have sex without a condom and he pulls out. For the most part. Sometimes after we have sex I’ll go pee (cuz no STI’s here LOL) and I’ll just have his cum all around my vagina. Which makes me nervous. But I’m on the most effective birth control out there. So.. any tips on how to just stop being so paranoid and trust my IUD? We had sex for 9 months straight with just a condom + pull out because I wasn’t on anything. So I guess I’m just not use to sex without a condom even though I’m more protected then I was 9 months ago. HELP

There’s no reason to be paranoid. The iud is over 99% effective. There’s a minuscule failure rate, about 20/10,000 women fall pregnant using the iud. Those failures are from improper placement or migration, which doesn’t happen often (hence the stats). As long as everything is in place, you’re protected. So don’t worry about the other comment saying the iud fails often cause it doesn’t and there’s statistics to prove it. The point of bc is to have sex without worry or anxiety over the possibility of pregnancy. So just enjoy it while you can, not everyone has that luxury.

It took me the first few months to trust it. But ivehad it for 11 months. We dont use condoms or pull out and i havent gotten pregnant.

I had this same issue, look at it this way. The IUD is more effective than a condom, it the most effective type of birth control. So it's the equivalent of a condom but better. It makes the lining of the cervix too thick for sperm to do it's job. It basically builds a wall in your uterus the blocks sperm, but the wall only goes one way and you still have a period.

I’ve seen a lot of failure posts, especially on here so my best advice would be to at least continue using the pull out method. Track your cycle (let EVE know your new form of birth control & it can help). If you want him to finish in you, know when in your cycle is the safest time.

It just takes time I guess. I’ve had it for a year and a half but ill still go through phases of being paranoid.
