When you had your anatomy scan, were you asked to return for a follow-up appt?

Tech and doctor want me to come back in 6 weeks so they can take further images and measures of baby’s heart.  Just wondering how common (or uncommon) this is.

Yes, this is normal.  I was told to come back in 6 weeks and that I would also come back a final time after my next appointment.  I believe this is because I am 35.  With my previous pregnancies I did not go in this much.  I find it comforting that they are keeping such a close eye on me and the baby.

If there was something wrong or suspected to be wrong they would tell you. It might be normal for their practice OR maybe they weren’t able to get the images they needed because of baby’s movement or position. You can always ask- it’s good to ask questions and keep yourself informed!

In my experience if something was “wrong” then the doctor usually has a conversation immediately after or via phone immediately after the visit. So unless that happened i wouldn’t worry - it might just be routine for that practice - Did they discuss why they want a follow up?

I had to go back to get pictures of Baby’s heart too. They assured me nothing was wrong, Baby just wasn’t in the right position to get the pics they needed.

Its normal for them to not be able to get the views and pictures they need depending on babys position. Lots of woman have to go back. If there was something to be concerned with I'm sure they would have told you

I went back for both my girls a week or two after. Both my boys was one and done.

They will tell you if something is wrong. Otherwise maybe they just couldn't get a good angle due to the baby's position.
With my first they thought they saw something wrong with the heart so they had me come back for a fetal ekg but they told me why they wanted me to come back. If the doctor didn't specify anything I wouldn't worry!

Yes I have to come back in July because my daughters was laying in a position where they couldn’t get a good measurement of her spine. They said they normally have to send mothers back because they go by textbook of how the baby should be position, in order to get the accurate picture. So don’t worry mama!!

I went last week and baby girl was not cooperating, she would move so they could scan her tail bone. I saw my OBGYN that same week and she said everything looked fine/normal, but they really needed to see her bottom spine so this is why I was asked to return in 5 weeks for another scan.
