How long does it take for them to place the epidural?

Being induced tomorrow and have an extreme fear of needles but know I won’t be able to deal with the pain of labor without!

Personally the epidural was welcomed compared to contractions.  You don’t see the needle or anything.  The most you feel is cold spreading under your skin.  The needle itself takes two seconds

The actual procedure start to finish is just a few minutes. There's a fair amount of time spent talking with the anesthesiologist about things and answering questions. Few minutes for them to get set up, and a few more for the meds to actually kick in. I'd say it took 20 minutes from when I said I was ready for it. But the actual insertion is super fast.

I really don't remember how my epidural went as I'd labored for hours and not been able to rest. I'd been awake for roughly 24 hours by the time I'd gotten it and I'd been started on pitocin hours before hand. 
From what I remember it was a fairly fast process and I never saw the needle once. My mom was in the room with me so I was able to cling on to her as a sloth clings to a tree 😂 I thought I was going to squeeze her to death tbh. The epidural was my savour during labor and birth. Don't be afraid of getting it. If you're like I was you won't feel a thing for the next like 10 hours and will be able to relax and sleep some.

The epidural overall doesnt take long. It did with me but that was only because he had to stop every time I was getting contractions and my contractions was so close together. Yet again a minute felt like a lifetime lol. On average maybe 5/10 minutes? Mine was probably 15 minutes or just over.

I was (and am) scared of needles and was terrified of an epidural but contractions after my water broke were so intense that I was asking for it as soon as we got to the hospital. The numbing needles felt like little stings. Quick sharp burning sensation. The epidural itself didn’t hurt. Just felt weird going in. Like a deep pressure with some odd popping sensations in my spine and near my crotch as he found the right spot for it. Then the medicine going in was like a cold trickle up my back. After that, pain was almost totally gone but I could still feel my legs and everything. Was wonderful! Worth the fear and tears.

There are 2 stages. The actual epidural insertion is super quick. Before that though they'll give you a couple of numbing shots and wait for it to kick in, I don't have the actual timing but I'm guessing 5-10 mins? 
It really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
