Who was at fault?

I don’t know how to feel about this on one hand the other woman was defending herself. I just don’t understand how the mom is being charged when she didn’t pull the trigger

The mother is at fault. 
She initiated the fight AND brought a gun to the fight. The other woman was simply defending herself.

Hmm. Are you asking who is at fault of the fight or are you also questioning whether or not manslaughter is appropriate? it was negligent of the mother to initiate a fight in a delicate condition so in that perspective i'd say the mother. I'll also add that my opinion has zero to do with the concept of life of the fetus. It was a wanted pregnancy it seems and not a medical termination. So in regards to questioning manslaughter if someone had to be charged, it should be the mother.

Pregnant lady should’ve kept her ass home and not started some problems. Especially not fire first. And I’m not saying she deserved loosing her baby but what did she expect ?

Ugh this is a tough one. The mom went all the way to where the other girl was and initiated the fight, so she does have fault in this. The other woman shot her “in defense” but was she really scared for her life that a fatal weapon was her only option?

Thos whole situation is completely fucked up. Yes, the mother initiated the fight, the other lady was trying to leave, so yes, the mother should absolutely be charged. However, I find it really hard to believe that the other lady was just defending herself and shouldn't face consequences based solely on the fact of where she shot the woman. That does not sit well with me at all. However, one could argue that the woman is a bad shot and had no intention of shooting her in the stomach, so it's purely circumstantial. It reminds me of a cold justice episode where a woman was found dead in the 90s, shot in her stomach and thrown into a river. They found out from various people that her roommate was jealous of her relationship with some guy they had both been boning at some point and had befriended her and moved in with her just weeks before the girl's murder. The kicker, she was a few weeks pregnant, by the guy in the middle of the love triangle and that alone was a huge red flag because of where the girl was shot. This also brings up another interesting topic, how much circumstantial evidence is enough to get a conviction?

I don’t get it. The other woman killed the baby, she was the one who pulled the trigger right? If i start a fight with someone and they shoot me, will the court decide that I shot myself and I’m the one to blame because I started it? Will I be tried for killing myself or will the person who shot me face the court and maybe walk free because it was self defense, provocation etc.

I’ve heard from someone who lives near where this happened. I’ve heard the pregnant woman pulled a gun first. I’ve heard the other woman tried to walk away, and the pregnant woman was following her and wouldn’t let her leave. On top of that there were threats overheard of her saying she was going to have people jump her. She defended herself. Pregnant or not, don’t threaten someone, don’t wave a gun around like an idiot, if someone is done fighting with you walk away, having anyone jumped is not okay.

Both.   The mother of the baby shouldn't have picked a fight and the other women shouldn't have drawn a gun on a pregnant women.   Both of them are old enough to know better so both have responsibility.  And ultimately, the fight was over a guy that potentially isn't worth either of their time.

This is so disgusting. The shooter went free, and the mom who lost her baby is going on trial for murder????  I don't care if the mom started the fight, she wasn't the one who brought a gun. Everything I've read hasn't mentioned it was a physical altercation (were they just telling at each other?) And the shooter can't possibly claim self defense since the mom was unarmed, it was the middle of the day, and she could have simply run back into the store to ask for help.  I can't stand Alabama.    Just so disgusting, this poor mom has been through enough already, leave her alone and out the shooter behind bars!!  You can't justify pulling the trigger on a gun pointed at someone unless they have a weapon and are attacking you, and that clearly isn't the case here. Ugh, just makes me sick

It depends on what the pregnant woman was doing. If the other woman feared for her life then by their law she is legally allowed to defend herself. The mother out herself in a stupid situation, who gets into a fight while pregnant? They are both wrong and trashy.
