I hear my LO restless in her bassinet. She’s turning her head side to side, her hands are in fists, and I hear slight smacking of lips. It’s 4am and it’s been 2 and half hours since she ate. I want to catch her before she full on goes into a scream. I take her into nursery, get everything ready to feed her but she fell back asleep! I try to wake her but she won’t latch (I breastfeed) so I take her back to bassinet. As soon as I lay her down she opens her eyes and makes lots of noise (no screaming yet). I grab her and decide to quickly change her diaper (it hasn’t been changed since before the last feed). I do it quick, quick wipe swipe. She wakes up but isn’t too upset yet. I get myself ready again but then she won’t latch! Makes little noises and won’t open mouth wide. Then it quickly turns into I have a screaming, most likely frustrated, baby. I’m trying to calm her for 30 minutes so I can get her to latch.. still no end in sight. I don’t know what I’m doing 🤦🏼‍♀️ I guess I made a mistake thinking her cues were hunger? I don’t know. Was I wrong? So confused sometimes and then I get an upset baby. 😔
