Baby shower for a second baby??

My older family members are saying not to throw a baby shower for my second baby. My daughter is going to be 4 before the next baby is here. Just curious what everyone has to say.

I’m FTM but one of my good friends just gave birth to her second. She had a second baby shower and expressed a need for diapers, since they’re girls were born around the same time of year and had a lot of things to pass down. For your friends, they don’t care that you’ve already had a baby, they want to celebrate you and spend some time together before the new bundle of joy arrives. In my book, one never says no to a good opportunity to throw a party 😊

I felt funny having another baby shower too, but it was a success, and my kids are all like 5 years apart! 
For my third it’s our first girl so we’re gonna have a shower, but I’m thinking more of like a diaper and wipes party :)

In my family we have showers for every baby, but with each baby they seem to be smaller showers since most have the bigger items that they saved. For me I’m having my second and I’m definitely having another shower not only because it’s the way my family is and because I want one. But also because my first shower was a complete nightmare and I was so upset for months about it. I tell people (being dramatic of course) that I suffer from PTSD from my first shower and now I have to plan it my self as my first one was thrown as a surprise from my super jealous sister who already had two kids of her own but didn’t like that I got the attention. Also if your not having the same gender as your first born then you’ll need gender specific items! I’m only registered for items I need since I kept some of my bigger items knowing I was going to have a second baby at some point. So good luck ok whatever you choose to do but there is nothing wrong with having one!

I had 2 for my first (in different places) and kinda hated it so I wont with this one. Got very little I actually needed.

I am. Worst case people dont show. But even tho I have a swing and toys and books and if it's another boy then i have plenty of clothes. BUT... now i need a new carseat, and a double stroller. I'll still need a crib and new bedding. Diapers are always needed. There are plenty of things a mom needs second time around. And if my friends and family dont want to help support me then so be it.

I personally wouldn't. I have never attended a shower for subsequent babies, people should have everything by that point. I am all for celebrating 2nd + babies but with a best wishes only party.
