I'm going to play devil's advocate here and just say that its not wrong to buy one while in a relationship unless the person you are in a relationship with has put it as an uncomfortable boundary for them. Not all relationships or people are the same and I think you need to really talk to him about this deeper. If in the end its not okay to him then you need to decide which is more important to you because he shouldn't have to stay when you deliberately did something that was crossing a comfort line for him. I'm not saying always give in to one another but have a long talk and see where it lands you. He deserves to be comfortable in the relationship as much as you and if this is a line that is hard for you to handle but he won't budge then you may have to evaluate your compatibility.

It's not wrong but some men see it as competition or an insult to their skills. Explain that no matter how skilled he is, sometimes it's just not going to happen without a little help, and that you deserve satisfaction also. If that doesn't work, you may have to decide if being sexually incompatible is a deal-breaker.

If he’s expressed he’s uncomfortable there’s nothing wrong with that. He’s allowed to feel that way and I can see his reasoning behind why he might. 
I’m not saying she should not buy these things because he’s expressed he’s uncomfortable. Just that it’s unfair to drag this guy for expressing these feelings when we support women that express the exact same feelings.
