Thoughts? Kaepernick is against them since that original flag by Betsy Ross was during the era of slavery.

The problem isn’t just that the flag was around back then, but that white supremacist groups are now using it. This is from the Wall Street Journal. 
“In 2016, the superintendent of a Michigan school district apologized after students waved the Betsy Ross flag at a high-school football game, saying that for some it is a symbol of white supremacy and nationalism, according to Mlive.com, a local news outlet. While the flag’s use isn’t widespread, the local chapter of the NAACP said at the time that it has been appropriated by some extremist groups opposed to America’s increasing diversity.”

Good and bad things happened during that time. I don't think that flag has anything to do with slavery.  Should we abolish all history during slavery times?  Time to move on.

Who’s ever is doing the research for Nike needs to be fired. Not too long ago they came out with a design for the Puertorican Parade using a unique pattern only found in Panama. And now they’re using this flag ignoring its history? And I love Kap, no matter how much hates he gets he will not back down

I think it is wrong that we, as a country, are allowing white supremacists to ‘claim’ a piece of our history like this flag, and simply by carrying it make it a negative symbol. I’m not suggesting that Nike should put that flag on shoe, only that I think the real issue is that it is utter BS that a Nazi organization can tell us all what symbols represent them when it is truly a theft of history and not theirs to lay claim too.

I'm more irritated that is being used for racist ideas.  I get it was made during that era, but it was made to represent the US as a new country & had nothing to do with slavery. I know racists are idiots, but damn. At least they were more spot on with the Confederate flag.

It is amazing that they are condemning the flag that soldiers fought under to end slavery.  And yet they don't see the irony of them, today, using sweat shops to produce their shoes.

I don’t think the shoes are necessarily ‘wrong’, because as another user said, I doubt it was done intentionally. However, I think it was really smart of them to pull the shoes once it was brought to their attention.
