Baby’s skin peeling?

My lo is 12 days old and her skin is peeling/flaking off. I don’t remember my sons doing this at all, so I’m wondering if it’s halfway normal?

It’s normal. I think it’s called vernix. It’s the protective skin layer the baby has while in the womb. You can use fragrance free baby lotion if you want but it isn’t harmful or painful.

Our daughters did the same thing the dr said we can put lotion on it but it won’t really help and will go away on it’s own

My son made a week today. His skin started peeling before we even left hospital and increased last 2 days. It doesn't bother him or me. I like the skin underneath better because the skin getting off was weird in a way I can't explain.

My daughter had the same thing until she was close to 3 weeks old. Her doctor said it was just her skin adjusting from the amniotic fluid to air

My daughter is 11 days and her skin is doing the same.....her Doctor said it’s normal.

Yep. Ours did that. Doctor said we didn’t have to do anything, or we could put lotion on it, just not hands or face. I didn’t put anything on it and it went away after a few days.
