It’s been a hard day so just, humor me please.

Hypothetically, if I had to, can I just give birth without an assigned OBGYN?

Basically, my doctor is a disrespectful idiot. He’s very old and forgetful, when you point out things to him he blames you for it (like forgetting information he gave you last appointment), and honestly it’s time for him to retire. However he isn’t yet, fine, and he’s the only option I have for the hospital I’m going to. My insurance won’t let me switch.

I feel like I can probably tolerate him a bit longer but I’m just, over it. I’m tired of being asked things like if I’m sure I know my last period, or him flat out not even knowing my name. He can’t even get the baby’s measurements correct and the damn ultrasound place in our local mall could do that. Last appointment baby is 4 days behind, today he’s two weeks, 30 secs after that he’s 1 week behind. Never mind, let’s send you for a transvaginal. Wtf?

Sorry for the vent. But if it gets down to it, can I ditch this crap and just spend the last bit of my pregnancy in peace? Then go when I’m in labor? I’m considering a midwife but currently don’t know the costs so I’m up in the air about it.
