Is it a waste or not ?

My boyfriend of 2 years came over on his lunch break to have a talk based off something I said to him last night which was that in 2 years I would like to be married. I said 2 years because we just had our son on father's day and we genuinely have a good relationship. Our son being born has made us closer and excited about raising him together etc. Well last night we discussed it alil about why he might not want too and etc, today he said he doesn't ever wanna be married and how should we proceed in our relationship because he doesn't want to continue if we not on the same page. In 2 years my mind could change and I could care less but marriage is something I want at some point but its not a devasting thing if i never do get married of course you just want a good relationship/bond with one person but it honestly made me shut down for hours and I couldn't keep from crying. How would you take it ?

My boyfriend doesn’t like the thought of marriage for many reason all of which he explained and I agreed with some. We came to a way we think of marriage and plan it have it that way. Technically it wouldn’t be a marriage since we both agree to not sign a license but we plan to change my name, have a ring and ceremony

When my fiancé and I got together he didn’t believe in marriage or engagement. And then after 4 years he proposed cause he felt it was time. He doesn’t get the whole marriage thing but we both agreed to a long engagement and then we will see. He just doesn’t like people making a big deal out of things or making him the center of attention so he just doesn’t want to get married.

Having a child with someone is an even bigger commitment than getting married. So, if he was already ok with doing that, then I don’t really see why marriage would be a no-go. At the same time, my now-husband was against getting married for a while when we were dating, but he ended up changing his mind (now expecting our first baby). I’m sorry you’re feeling upset, though; it really does suck to get into a disagreement with your partner and know it will hang over your heads for a bit 😕

My boyfriend and i are both pretty back and fourth on this so it will be years before we ever make that decision to tie things legally on paper, but we definatly plan on having a ceremony at some point. Im happy with that.

I mean if it’s something you really want and it’s a deal breaker I wouldn’t be with him . But if you don’t mind not being married as long as your happy it doesn’t matter .
