How Do You Leave Someone?

I’m currently 32 weeks pregnant with my second child (my bf’s first) and tonight he decided to bring up his ex yet again. We’ve been together nearly 3 years, and for the first 2 years of that he refused to stop talking to her (and I mean on a daily basis). Then, he told her (when she demanded he come back to her) - which I told him she was gonna do because every time she messaged him, she had to compare herself to me and he had to pet her fucking ego - anyway, he told her no and chose to stay with me. That was nearly a year ago. Then, randomly tonight, he says that when he was down there (meaning with her) he could at least breathe. How am I supposed to take that? I’m not going to put up with this for the rest of my life. Then, when I tried to explain what he did wrong, he avoided it completely, and said that he was done talking to me. I’m tired of it. I just don’t know what to do. It would be so much easier if I had a car. Fuck my life, right? 😢

No offense it sounds like you need to mature a bit. If she was a big part of his life he will bring her up. As for talking to her still, that’s inconsiderate of the respect he has for you

So more than half your relationship he talked about his ex. You stayed. A baby was conceived. And he has now brought her up again. I wouldn’t have been able to hear this for a month, never mind two years. He’s clearly not over her and/or still in contact with her. 
I wish you the very best, a child is a blessing. You won’t be the first single mom
and certainly not the last. You don’t need someone who is treating you like an option while still pining over his ex.

To answer your question how do you leave, well that's simple. Pack and go. 
Idk why he would still be bringing her up. My bf still brings up his ex but they have a child together plus she was an addict/abusive so he's got ptsd. Maybe he's a little traumatized? Or maybe he just needs to get the fuck over her. I feel like you're so done hearing about her that any hint of the mention of her sets you off. While that's understandable, it isn't healthy. If you want it to work couples counseling would benefit you.

He should have cut her off long before he did

Friends or not, if she wasn’t respecting his relationship with you she should have been longgggg goneeeee 
Him having to “pet her ego” is not part of being a friend to an ex, that’s crossing a line 
Him bringing her up in a way to make you feel less important than her (it sounds like what he said was a comparison to make her out to sound better or more suited for him)

Whoa so he’s saying at least when he went down on his ex he could breathe 😮 Wow he’s soo disrespectful and basically called your cat garbage. Maybe he stays with you cause you allow him to say anything out his mouth... I can’t figure out if he meant because of the smell or maybe you might be bigger but either way he’s trash 🗑.

Personally I wouldn’t put up with it. The fact he can’t let her go says something. I’m friends with my ex’s but there are boundaries that they have not established. By constantly comparing you two it’s not healthy. I’m not one to control my husbands life and who he talks to but if something makes me uncomfortable he won’t do it. It’s having respect for me and our relationship. Something he’s not doing. Now on how to leave, lay it out flat for him. Tell him you aren’t comfortable and are tired of feeling like you are competing with her and that you two need to figure out how you are going to co parent.

How do you leave? Find somewhere else to live whether it’s on your own or with family in the short term, pack up your things and move. And tell him at some point along the way.
