Washing a pack n play?

Question

Has anyone actually washed a pack n play?? I've watched a couple videos on YouTube and it seems pretty easy and effective but my husband is wondering about rust setting in? 
(We bought a gently used one from a friend but we want to wash it before we put our new born in it)

Pick a super hot sunny day and hose it down outside and wash it. It will dry pretty fast and you won’t have to worry about rust or mold.

I soaked mine in the bathtub with some hot water and vinegar. I had got a used one that was filthy! I had to rotate it a few times (kept it folded), and then opened it up to dry outside

I don’t know, I haven’t heard good things about washing it (other than spot cleaning).  
I would maybe just get a quilted mattress protector and then put the fitted sheet on top of it. That way there’s a layer between the pad the other baby laid on, and your baby.

This is the tutorial I used.  It worked great.  Drying on a sunny day for best results
