Ok, finally, a serious one. Regarding the 3rd of July!

🐐

So it’s July 3rd today and I’m at work, chatting with my manager since it’s suuuuper slow in the store and we’re about to close and I’m at that point where I’m so bored that yes, I will make small talk with my manager.

So I bring up the plans I was going to have tonight—go to the lake & watch some fireworks, have some cheese curds and other assorted fair foods, yknow, typical July 4th festivities.

(As a side note, I am not doing any of those lmao because I am tired, so I went home and am now sitting on the toilet & making this post. Gotta love closing shifts.)

Anyways, so I brought up my July 4th plans and my manager seemed taken aback. Apparently she didn’t know that people (at least around the town where I live) were celebrating early. Every year my town holds a giant festival/party/get-together thing, on July 3rd, and every year that’s what I do to celebrate. She said, “I don’t get it...some holidays just shouldn’t be celebrated early.”

I have no idea what that means 😂 is it disrespectful to celebrate Independence Day one day early? I was thinking it’s just to avoid the crowds and mayhem of actual

July 4th, or so there can be a community event and then families can have their own celebrations on the 4th. Am I wrong? Is there something I don’t know?

TLDR, is it okay to celebrate 4th of July when it’s not the actual 4th of July?

Do you think there’s other holidays that should only be celebrated on it’s specified date—not early (or late)?
