60% effaced 1/2 centimeter dilated

I’m a FTM and at my appointment yesterday (36 weeks 3 days) the doctor started talking about induction options/benefits for FTMs at 39 weeks. Then he checked me and realized baby is head down and I was 60% effaced 1/2 centimeter dilated. He seemed surprised. He said he wouldn’t be shocked if the baby came within the next two weeks, but didn’t want to get my hopes up. At that point it was too late, my hopes are up lol. Have any FTMs had the doctor say the baby should be arriving soon and have the opposite happen?
