Hello! I was posting in hopes I could get a little advice on my kitty. A couple days ago my cat started to inappropriately urinate all over the house, shaking his tail. We took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with urethral spasms. He was at risk for a “block” and was put on pain medication and another medication to stop the spasms. A day later he was laying on the ground moaning in pain, and not peeing very much so I took him back in. He became partially blocked and had to stay overnight with a catheter placed. He is still there currently and is doing well but I’m out 1,500$ 😭 I’ve been reading that adequate hydration and stress management are key to stop this from happening again. I will get a prescription wet cat food from the vet (Royal Canine I believe), I’ve placed multiple water dishes around the house and got him a larger and more private litter box. Does anyone have any advice or experience with this? I want to do the best I can to ensure this doesn’t happen again.
