Can you get pregnant while breastfeeding?

My OBGYN said I couldn’t. I’m 18 months post partum, and stopped birth control at the beginning of June. I haven’t had a period since before I’ve had my son. I had some light spotting at the end of June. But that was all, and the blood was brown rather than red.

Yes, you can you need to be nursing every 3 hours on the hour in order to give yourself a chance not to so it’s not a full proof method. I. Was 8 months pp and got pregnant with my second while nursing and feeding my babe regular foods. 
I wasn’t nor trying but as soon as you get your period back and some times Before, you can get pregnant

Just like with any form of birth control (minus abstinence) there is always a chance of becoming pregnant. Nothing is fool proof. Use a double (or triple) form of BC. If you want to go the LaM method then use a condom as well. If you are on BC and using the LaM method then good. I always said with my luck I’d be that .0001% that would still get pregnant so it’s better to safe than sorry if another baby isn’t in the cards yet.

My cousin was exclusively breastfeeding and got pregnant with another baby that was born 11 months later (Irish twins) so yes it can happen but it's rare.
