Why do people make such a big deal about hair?

Why do people freak out when they change their hair? Like I understand it being a factor in how you look and how you’re perceived but it’s temporary. Idk it just bothers me so much that every time I cut my hair or dye it people are like “are you sure???? That’s a big change!” And when I talk about cutting my hair they try and tell me not to. Once I had something really bad happen to me and I was talking about cutting my hair and someone told me I shouldn’t make major decisions while I’m upset 😒😒😒
