For those who did sleep training at around 4 months, did it work?

I'm not doing sleep training in terms of CIO but I'm attempting takingcarababies approach in terms of not picking him up when he cries and soothing him with touch/hand on the chest. I've seen a difference in the past week for sure,  I've been successful at putting him down awake and just letting him do his thing!
