Bassinet vs Pack’n Play?

Question

We have both a hand-me-down bassinet (all vibrating/singing features are broken) and a hand-me-down Pack ‘n Play, and I’m trying to figure out which we should use for our first 6 months with ladybug in our room. 
Thoughts on which is better, more convenient, etc? Do Pack ‘n Plays require special sheets or can I just use a regular crib sheet? Do I need to buy the separate mattress or is the included pad fine?
If it’s not obvious— FTM 😬.  Tell me all your thoughts even if they seem super obvious!

We will be using pack n play but it has a bassinet on it that we will use at first.

Our pack and play has a bassinet attached to it. So I never used the main pack and play area until my little was about 6 months. We also had a crib though. With my first, I used a bassinet and loved it.

The pack and play uses mini crib sheets. I personally bought mini crib sheets and a mini crib mattress to put in my pack and play until we get a bigger home. 
I have two bassinets and two pack and plays to use. We have a two story house and didn’t want to tote it everywhere. 
To start off your baby, it depends on you and your baby. Some babies need to be inclined (some bassinets offer this feature). I recommend staying openminded to both options and let your baby choose what works best for them.

I'm planning to use a bassinet just because it fits nicely beside my bed, but you may want to try both because I know babies can be picky with sleeping

I would say use the bassinet untill baby rolls over by themselves then switch to pack and play. Also I never used sheets for my pack and play but everyone is different.

What kind of bassinet do you have? The pack and play is a travel bed, not made for long term use, the mat that is used in there is too hard for long term use.

Pack n plays need special sheets. They’re smaller than a regular crib.
As to which is better to use... idk. We used a pack n play with our first born. This time I’d like to use a bassinet but I don’t have one and don’t know that we’ll have the $ to get one. The pack n play has worked fine for people I know. It did not work for our son until he was a year old. He hated sleeping alone (wanted to be held the entire time).
