Divorce/ ring
when my husband and I got married we had NO money and no rings. We got married at the courthouse. There was never a proposal or anything. Just a conversation about it and then a marriage. After a year and a half, he bought me a ring and gave it to me for my birthday/ Valentine’s Day.
Fast forward through all of our problems etc, I kicked him out of MY house about 3 and half weeks ago and filed for divorce. He took half the furniture, my lawn mower, and everything in savings. He’s insisting that I give the ring back, saying if we aren’t married then I shouldn’t keep it. I feel like it was a gift to me and am not obligated to return it. I want to sell it to replace some of the items he took when he moved (although I paid for 90% of them). Am I in the wrong here? And how soon is TOO soon to sell it if I’m not?
