I want to keep this anonymous because I feel childish about the whole thing but let me explain.

There is this horrible lady at my workplace that hardly anyone likes or gets along with. We all just tolerate her because she’s been working there forever and is planning to retire in a few years.

Here recently her fur baby (her only child is grown so her dog was like a child to her) passed away.

Since I’m a fellow dog lover I tried to be nice to her and suggest he’s in a better place and she should get another puppy. She insisted he can’t be replaced and that she would never want to do that. So I never bring it back up.

Meanwhile I’m 10 weeks pregnant and I had announced at work that my husband and I were expecting (all before the death of her dog.)

One day my work friends and I were discussing baby names and I really like Stella Faye for a girl (Faye is a family name).

Well go figure, the name got out because the horrible lady at work just got a new puppy and told me she named her Stella May because it’s “the most beautiful name ever and fits her so well”.

Needless to say I was unamused but at least glad she got a new dog so she wasn’t 100 times more miserable than usual anymore.

I guess why I’m posting this is, is it crazy of me to be angry she kind of stole my potential daughter’s name? I have no intention of her coming to the gender reveal, baby shower, etc. Nor do I plan on her ever meeting my child. I just feel like the name is ruined now because I had no attachment to the name Stella before but now it’s forever attached to her.
