Disappointing anatomy scan

Got to our appointment 15 minutes early as per dr office request. Sat in the waiting room for half an hour. Finally went back with ultrasound tech for the Anatomy scan. I’ve had this tech before and have not been a fan. She is old. She was very rough. Not personable. And didn’t point out or explain anything.

You know how when your desktop computer doesn’t work. You jiggle/shake the mouse in frustration.

Right. We’ve allllll done it. Now. Imagine the ultrasound tech doing the exact same thing with her wand. Over. And over again. She kept running out of lube and jiggling the wand in frustration. I have very low self esteem. So feeling her jiggle my belly over and over again was really uncomfortable and upsetting.

We told her we wanted to be surprised on the gender. So she said when she needed to scan the lower half of the baby she would turn off the tv displaying the ultrasound. Which made things even more awkward/uncomfortable.

She couldn’t get good pictures/measurements of the baby’s heart because it was facing my spine. She had me pee two separate times, dance, yes dance. And turn on my side several times. All with building frustration that the baby wouldn’t flip around. Which lead to MORE jiggling of the wand.

Finally after an hour of this torture I was done. So they send us back out to the waiting room for my appointment with the dr. We sat in this waiting room for ANOTHER half hour. With some other (old) guy playing a game on his phone with the sound ON. By the time we got into the exam room I was spent, starving and anxious for results. So I just cried. 😢

Relief finally came after being at the drs office for 2.5 hours. Very thing looks fine, measurements look good, fluid was good, still maintaining my pre-pregnancy weight.

I have to go back in 2 weeks for another attempt at measuring the heart.
