Baby Before Marriage?

I’m still kind of young and I’ve wanted kids for so long, but my SO and I aren’t married and we are worried our parents won’t approve of it. We both want a kid sooner than later. We just need some advice. Please help!

Depends how young you are. If you’re young but you both have a stable income and housing, have a solid relationship and both have come to a decision you want kids, go for it, but don’t do that if you’re hesitant about it or you can’t do it at this point in your life, the time will come when you will be able to support a child. It is better if you are married for several reasons. For more as much as the two of you care about each other there is no legal element unless you are married. You are legally entitled to share everything when wed, which if over time the two of you drift apart you would have more rights.  Secondly, it is way easier for health insurance, purchases, etc if you are married not "are you getting that/paying for it" type things which will arise.  I think getting married is seen as a legitimate relationship by most people (for what that is worth). Otherwise you are literally and legally a single parent - which is not a situation you want to find yourself in.  Lastly, why aren't you married?  If someone loved you it isn't a hard decision to marry that person. I would question why you man hasn't proposed if you are talking about children with him. A lot of times people make a whole lot of empty promises a commitment such as marriage forces them to make a decision about you. If they can't make that decision they aren't worth your time to have a baby with. Children are a huge responsibility and require two people together for life in order to have a more successful outcome.
