Bleeding

So today, after intermittent spotting that I was told was a sub chorionic haematoma that went away, I had a massive bleed. It looked exactly like my miscarriage in March, and I was heartbroken and horrified.

I tried to phone the early pregnancy unit, but they weren’t answering, so my husband took me to there directly. We got there at 3.40pm and they close at 4, and the midwife I saw told me it’s not a walk in service and since they were about to close they probably wouldn’t see me.

I think my dad (who died 4 days before my son was born last year) was looking out for me, because they agreed to see me and scan me.

The baby is totally fine and measuring exactly on track at 9w. It was bouncing around and flapping it’s little arms with a strong heartbeat. She said she could see a pocket of bleeding but it was well away from the baby, and she said it was quite common but not something they could explain. She said it can often take up to 16w to settle down and I may bleed on and off like that for several more weeks.

I really hope this is the end of pregnancy dramas, but it just shows that not all red blood is a miscarriage. Always check with your doctor and try not to panic!
