Is it safe to use a crib bumper?

My son has been showing signs of rolling. He has already bumped his head on the side of his crib and I'm wondering if it's safe to use crib bumpers or if he's better off without them safety wise. Anyone have thoughts or experience with these?

No bumpers. Not even mesh. I promise it is safer without them. ❤️

I just put a mesh breathable bumper on my daughters crib because I walked into her room 3 days in a row with her arm or leg sticking through the crib railing. To me, the potential of her breaking a bone outweighs the other risks considering the liner is breathable and mesh. So far she’s been fine with it. She uses the bumper to “walk” around the crib in a circle

Use the bumper. My daughter loved to put her face to the pillows she had around the crib and nothing happened. They are already bigger now and can move their head if neccessairy so I would not worry. I put a bumper on the crib for my boy last week because he was also pushing hard towards the crib and was hitting his head and feet constantly. And I could hear from the scream that it hurts him. Now its ok.

We use ours but it’s mesh and breathable. They say not to use them but he can breath if he rolls into it so I’m keeping them

According to my friend at DCF if there is an infant death one of the first questions they ask is if the crib has bumpers. On the other hand people have been using them for yyyyeeeaarrs! In the end you do what you think is best for your baby.

Safety wise it is best not to use them. We never did with my daughter, she rolled around and bumped around but never got hurt.

I use mesh breathable ones with Velcro rather than strings. Much much safer 😇
