Just got engaged when should I start planning?

Hi! 
So I recently just got engaged last on the 4th of July, and I’m wondering when I should start planning. We want to get married in June of 2021. 
Any ideas, opinions, etc. is welcome!

Congratulations!
You can start planning already, if you like. Start looking for ideas on internet, see what you like and dont like.
I started planning in May 2018 and going to marry in august 2019, so a little over a year. 
It depends on the plans you have for your dream wedding. Is it a special location? Than make an appointment already to check it out and see if YOUR date is still free.
Also start to set a budget, discuss it with your fiance, and start planning from there.

I would definitely start planning now! I got engaged in April and our wedding isn’t till May 22, 2021 and we have already booked our venue (our venue is very very popular and has bookings everyday) and I found my dress! But, venues book incredibly fast! I would start there especially if you want that specific month since a ton of people get married in June lol 
I look on Pinterest for ideas (such a lifesaver! Create a wedding board) 
Do not do the mistake I did and try to get EVERYTHING done in one sitting. I almost had my whole planning for the wedding done within 1-2 weeks after I got engaged 😂 I guess I was excited..but I got overwhelmed quickly and had to take a step back and also had to have my MOM take a step back (she would call me and just want to talk about the wedding...) 
I’m meeting with a wedding planner soon to discuss the timeline of things to help me out better (you don’t have to get one but I feel like it would help me out better with the timeline in the long run)

Start now! I got engaged this past  December. We are planning to wed October 2020. Thankfully we locked in a venue recently BUT it wasn’t easy, venues book up super fast so at least get that idea down first then you can slow down.

Now venues book super fast, my venue I booked 18mo in advance and if I hadn't we wouldn't have been able to have it there, it was already booked the 2 weekends before and one after and we are gettin married on September! I talked to the venue owner last weekend and he is booked for the rest of this year, all of next and 2021. Never hursts to start early. I'm 68 days away and I have everything planned and paid for so now I can relax until the day!

I’d suggest that you start planning now. Go look at venues and poke around on Pinterest for ideas. I’m kind of jealous of people who have long engagements even though it never would have worked for me just because they have more time to get things done
