That’s what we did. We had a very small wedding ceremony and invited more friends to the reception then the ceremony.

Not at all. A few of my friends and my brother did that. A small wedding with just the closes people in their lives and than a reception for everyone to attend. My brother did it so it would be more affordable. He couldn't afford a big wedding and a big reception and hi wife and him both said they wrather go all out on the reception. They felt it was better since that's when they actually get to socialize with everyone and really have a good time.
