I know how...but my SO does it because I want to make sure it gets latched in very tight and he is stronger than me when it comes to tightening the straps into the car.

Yes, anyone that cares for a car seat age child should know how to install it. They should also not rely on car seat techs or fire stations to do it for them. Certified car seat techs will teach you how to install it, not do it for you. Anyone that does it for you is most likely not actually certified.
