Crib or toddler bed?

I have a 20 month old daughter and I’m due in December. I’m debating on if I should buy another crib or just buy a toddler bed and use my daughters crib for her baby sister/ or brother. The crib is a 3 in 1 crib solid wood with all the bells and whistles. I feel bad to kick her out her crib when the baby comes but I don’t want to have two cribs to take up so much space. Do y’all have any recommendations.

Anything BUT a toddler bed. Either do another crib, or get a twin bed. Toddler beds are such a waste of money in my opinion. It's the exact same size as a crib,  they outgrow it age 4 or so. If you're buying a whole new bed and mattress, a twin will last them many years.

Twin bed 100%! You’ll have to buy it anyway and there is no point in buying another crib mattress ($70) and a bed ($70) just to end up throwing the mattress away in a year. My step son was in a twin bed at 3 years old for this reason and he is tiny for his age. Just spend the $150 on a cheap mattress and frame and you’re good to go for many years to come. At this age, they don’t put any wear and tear on mattresses because they don’t weigh enough.

I would definitely buy a twin bed. That’s my plan for when baby #2 comes around. They have bumper rails that you can add to the sides to keep her from falling off. That way she has a bed that could last her through (technically) middle school

I would get her, her own bed. Make it exciting let her help pick out some new bedding or stuffies.

We put my son in a twin bed and bought a railing for it. He has never fallen out. That would be my recommendation.

My daughter will be about 26mo when baby is born.  We are planning on using a bassinet until baby is 4-5mo old and then transitioning my daughter to a twin and baby into her old crib.  I contemplated buying another crib but since baby sleeps in our room the first few months anyway, this seemed more practical.
