Is it disrespectful to propose at someone else's wedding?

Someone I know just got engaged at her friend's wedding. She was a bridesmaid and her boyfriend proposed to her there at the reception in front of everybody. Congrats to them, but I feel like that's disrespectful because you're taking someone else's day away. Is it just me?

I think it depends on the situation. If he spoke to the bride and groom first and they said it was fine. I wouldn't mind if someone got engaged at my wedding. Well at the reception I wouldn't mind.
