One time I spent over $200 and didn't even get a thank you card. After that I'm much cheaper.

I agree that it depends. If this is a contribution to a work gift for a colleague that I’m not close to, probably $10-15. If it’s for a close friend, probably $50. I’d probably get something that price for a friend too, but I’ll also get some diapers and/or an outfit or something for the baby (& older sibling if there is one) when I go to visit for the first time.
