Question

Say that you have a lump sum of money that could be used to buy all of your baby essentials. You’re not having a shower, it’s money aside from your emergency fund(we have an emergency fun. This money is unrelated to that)***. Would you buy all of your baby’s essentials to get it taken care of and out of the way, or just hold onto the money and slowly buy things?
This is my second baby so I know what is essential and what isn’t.

I would slowly buy things! Know what you want and get it all during their sales or when you have a coupon!! I just got a snuggle me pillow and silly wrap on 4th of July sale! Saved so much money!

I've been trying to decide the same thing. The only reason I say slowly buy is because some of the items we wanted have gone on sale recently... Our travel system was $100 off! Plus if it's stuff that has to be put together, you can spread that out. But there's also something to be said for having everything done!

We made a registry for those who asked what we needed and we will get a coupon to use on items left that we plan to use. We didn’t have a baby shower for our first baby either and don’t plan to have one this time around either. We got our stroller from a sale months ago and have a few small things. But know the essentials we will
Need. And then we have some stuff saved from our son. 
So I’d get it all with a coupon or sale like target does (buy x amount get x amount gift card).

My husband and I are sort of in the same position, and we are buying the main things now, bassinet, swing, bottles, diapers, etc. And we will be buy the other things like a play gym, high chair, whatever else later. We have some stuff saved from our last but we still need a lot 😅

Slowly buy things. You never know what unexpected cost might be round the corner. As long as you have the ‘big’ essentials - cot, car seat, stroller, a few items of clothing, blankets and a place to put baby down....I’d say the rest can just be brought as and when needed.

I guess it depends on what you're buying. I'd look for deals and buy things somewhat slowly, but if you don't need big nursery furniture or a carseat and stroller then everything else is small so I don't see why you couldn't just get it all done at once.

I got my tax refund shortly after finding out I was pregnant and bought everything with it 😂
