Folic acid and Autism risk - help!

Hello all! Hoping someone can have some insight to my predicament.

I am 18 weeks 4 days pregnant. I have mild spinabifida, so my RE prescribed me 5 mg (1250mcg) folic acid to take. (Not folate)

I also take a prenatal that has 400mg folic acid in it.

So in all, I am taking around 16-1700mcg of folic acid a day, not to mention what I might be eating.

I thought this was all fine and dandy, but I am now reading that having that much folic acid can have a significant risk of autism. Like 16x the risk of normal.

As per Web MD, Harvard Medical, and government websites.

I am freaking out that I’ve been taking way too much!

I think I am going to stop my prescription folic acid, but I am no longer seeing my RE, as I graduated to my OB after I got pregnant. They know I take it, and they never said anything to me about it. The nurses just wrote it in and we went on our way, I’m not sure if my doctor ever even looked at it.

Any insight on this anybody?
