Which flow for the bottle nipple?

I’m mainly planning to nurse but will also pump and have bottles available for my husband to feed the baby a couple days a week when I work. Which size nipple should I get for the bottle? Slow flow, medium flow, or fast flow?

Sloooow. Try and make it harder for them to realize the bottle is way easier than the breast. They’re smarter than you think 😂 my daughter got nipple confusion early

If I'm not mistaken, I think breastfed babies are supposed to use slow nipples to simulate the flow while breastfeeding. I never actually breastfed mine since she was in NICU for a bit and it was easier to pump and do bottles since I was not there 24/7. I just continued to pump and do bottles as long as I was able.

Slow flow is best for breastfeeding babies. They have to suck harder to get milk from your breast, so when they take a bottle they're likely to choke a little until they get the hang of it because the milk comes out a whole lot easier. You also have to keep an eye on how quickly they're eating, it's easy to overfeed them when they first start because they'll suck down the bottle quicker than they nurse and it takes a little time for their stomachs to realize they're full.

We had the best luck with the preemie nipples on advent bottles. Most bottles come with size 1 nipples and we found that was still too fast for our breastfeed baby.
