Where are they?

I saw a quote of Scripture just now and it made me realize that the dead haven't ascended to Heaven yet and won't until Jesus comes for us all. So where are they and what are they doing?

Answer

The part that's says "the dead in Christ shall rise first" are Christians who have already died and and with Jesus before His second coming. They when Jesus come those of us Christian still alive will be reunited with those who have died in Heaven.
Paul wrote this to bring us comfort in knowing that we will see are brothers and sisters in Christ again 😊
