What can I do?

My son’s daycare teacher shared with me that she just lost her baby at 19w. I absolutely love her and I’m so devastated for her - I didn’t even know she was pregnant. The baby had a terrible diagnosis. She said she’s ok, but I would like to do something for her. Any ideas, given that she’s my son’s teacher? I don’t want to go too crazy.

A sympathy card and maybe a gift card to something like uber eats or somewhere she can order a meal delivered. After my losses, some people brought meals and it really helped bc I didn’t feel like cooking or going out.

Definitely a gift card for delivery of food and a small note to say you are so sorry for her loss and that you are thinking of her. Loss moms want their babies to be acknowledged. It won’t make it worse, it makes them feel like their babies were real and won’t just be forgotten.

I lost a pregnancy last year and my favorite gift from a distant friend was a beautiful card with a boxed set of really pretty bath bombs. And the message was a reminder to take care of myself and to give myself space and time fo heal. I found it was what I needed to hear most. And it came from someone I wasn’t close to, so I think I could be appropriate in your circumstance.

Maybe not a card? The gift card idea I really like, you could write “lots of love to you, thanks for being great teacher to my son” and leave it at that. Doing much more could make things worse for her.

When I had my miscarriage, I didn’t enjoy flowers. I normally love them and house plants, but it felt too... funeral-y to me. Where you live, is there a fruit bouquet company? That way it’s like flowers but with the added benefit of being a nice treat

If you look up miscarriage gifts on google there’s some stuff. Theres some very sweet necklaces with nice writing on them. How sad :(
