Tattoos?

So a little back story: 2 weeks ago today my dad passed away. We found out a month prior that he had stage 4 lung cancer. It has been a devastating time for me he was all I had left blood wise other than my daughter. So this past weekend I stopped by my tattoo artist shop to set up an appointment for a tattoo for my dad on my calf. And now yesterday I found out that I may be pregnant and will confirm it Friday. Should I tell my guy I can’t do it or just go ahead. If I am at most I’m 5 weeks maybe idk yet.

Do not get a tattoo while pregnant. If you read the consent it typically states you cannot be tattooed while pregnant.

Here is what the American Pregnancy Association has to say. Basically the same risk is there even if you aren’t pregnant (risk of infection). It’s a tough one though cause I’m sure your tattoo place is safe, most reputable places and artists are religious about keeping needles clean and sterilizing after every visit. In the end I would wait, just one more year it’ll be fine and you can spend that time designing the PERFECT tattoo :) Good luck and so sorry about your dad 😭

I'd definitely wait it out. No reputable tattoo artist will do that anyway. Risk for infection is way too high and the stress it puts on your body may cause harm to the baby. I know how you feel, I was 40 weeks pregnant and my dad had a massive stroke and will never walk again, still 2 years later doesn't talk the same or act the same. It's hard for sure. I'm sorry that is happening to your family, especially when you just found out you might be pregnant. Like another woman said, spend this next year planning out the perfect tattoo.

No licensed tattoo place will tattoo or pierce someone who’s pregnant, there’s no need to risk infection.
