Today I had my first appointment with my new clinic that I just transferred to for ob/gyn. I’m 29 weeks and 3 days pregnant and was told I had to take a glucose test the same day. I drink the fruit punch flavor and it didn’t taste as bad as I thought.

Then I had to wait in the waiting room for an hour and at first I felt fine, but as soon as it got closer to the hour ending I started feeling really exhausted out of no where and dizzy😞. As soon as they were about to draw my blood I asked the nurse if I was supposed to feel sick after drinking the glucose juice because I literally felt like I was about to pass out.

My vision was going in and out and my hearing was become very faint. Then one of the nurses grabbed a trash can quickly and I threw up all the juice I just drink an hour before. Now I did eat and drink plenty of water before I went to my appointment so idk why I started feeling like this.

Then as soon as I threw up they started trying to draw my blood anyways even though I was shaking and still felt very sick.

Long story short they weren’t able to draw any blood after poking me with the needle in different places 4 times. By the 4th time they realize I was very dehydrated and no blood was coming through the needle.

They said I have to come back in the morning for blood work but because with my bf starting a new job and having to use his friend’s car for work and transportation I don’t even know if I’m able to come in for that😓.

I’m back home and before I came back my bf had sent an Uber to his brother and sister in laws house and as soon as I got there I first at then fell asleep on the couch. Now back home I feel so weak and have no energy at all and on top of that I live in a tropical climate so it was very hot outside and inside the house🔥.

Has anyone else had a similar situation with taking glucose test, I really thought I was going to be sent to the emergency room during all of that.

Update: I went in the next day and the nurse said that I had to take the test again.

I had the same flavored drink but not even 20 mins into the hour wait I felt weak and threw up again. They just told me since my body didn’t take the glucose drink the second time that for my next appointment I just fast before coming in to draw blood, eat something and then after 2 hours come in to draw blood again. My bf was with me this time and I could barely stand up for a long period of time. Called an Uber back home and half way through the ride stopping at a gas station I threw up again😞. Thank god my bf decided to stop at a another location before going home because if we didn’t I probably would of threw up in the Uber driver’s car😓. I open the door when we stopped and made it out on time. My bf didn’t understand why they would make me take the test again if it made very sick the first time.

But I did want to know if anyone else ever had a bad reaction to the glucose drink test because I barely drink or eat anything sugary and idk if it’s because my body couldn’t handle all that at once.
